This morning, the president from the Organizing Committee of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 (COSSAN2023), Yamil Bukele, presented Maqui, the first of the mascots for the regional event that our country will host from June 23rd to July 8th.
Maqui represents a Maquilishuat, El Salvador’s national tree.
Legends say that in the depths of a magical forest there is a brave spirit who, one night, saw seven bright stars heading towards the highest mountain. With an ecstatic heart, she decided to learn from them. Her path was full of obstacles.
She climbed. She jumped. She ran. But, at last, she reached the top.
Bathing her in light and energy, the stars entrusted her with the task of guiding the bravest through difficult trials.
And now it’s time to give her best because…
Maqui is ready to go beyond!
