“I see the conditions to have the Games in excellence”: Pedro Gama Filho, wrestling ITD

Yesterday, the wrestling International Technical Delegate, Pedro Gama Filho from Brazil, did a tour around the facilities of the “Mágico” González Stadium in order to check the progress of the remodeling work that is taking place in the facility.

The Brazilian delegate seemed pleased with the works, expressing his trust in their completion for June 26th, 27th, and 28th, when wrestling will take place in the Games.

Gama Filho also praised the Flor Blanca Sports Complex, that will not only be the venue for wrestling, but for several other disciplines during the Games.

“I’m happy with what I saw, a lot of people working hard. I am confident that we will be ready to start the Games in June. This will surely leave a legacy for the Wrestling Federation and for all other sports in El Salvador”, he expressed.

He also seemed surprised by the way in which the stage is being transformed, where the inauguration for the Central American and Caribbean Games will be held for the third time in history, after the 1935 and 2002 editions.

“What impresses me the most is the possibility to see a place that had other purpose transformed in a new venue for wrestling; that can be useful to their athletes, to the kids or to anybody that wants to visit El Salvador and train after the Games”, the Brazilian added.

Gama also used this visit to meet with representatives of the Infrastructure and Sports areas of the Organizing Committee, as well as with the engineers in charge of the works.

This meeting was extremely beneficial for both parties, since they managed to unify plans that were under evaluation, and to consult and suggest ideas that aim to have the venue in optimal conditions to host the wrestling events at the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.

Finally, he seemed hopeful of the legacy that this could be for Salvadoran sports, not only during the Games, but after them too. “I see good conditions, I see conditions to have these Games in excellence, and to leave a legacy for the athletes and the sports federations”, he concluded..
