International Basketball Delegate inspected the National Gymnasium

Edgar Marín Jr. International Basketball Technical Delegate and Events Director of FIBA America, and the president of the Salvadoran Basketball Federation, Yamil Bukele, visited yesterday the facilities of the National Gymnasium “José Adolfo Pineda”, which will host the competitions of this sport during the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.

During his visit, Marín supervised each of the areas of the emblematic sports scene, as they intend to provide the best conditions to the athletes who will compete in the sports fair, which is scheduled from June 23rd to July 8th, 2023.

“It’s the first technical visit, we are starting the preparations of the stadiums, and everything related to equipment. I think we are good; we are in this first step of ordering everything, which is the most interesting part of the games”, said Marín.

In the same way, the technical delegate was satisfied by the approach with the technical delegates of the Organizing Committee of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 and the Fesabal authorities, since they settled some doubts so that the basketball competitions comply with FIBA standards.

“Being here makes it easier for FIBA requirements to be met. It seems they are on the right step, there is still a long way to go, but I think we are on the right path”, added Marín.

Finally, the technical delegate highlighted that all renovations that are being carried out in the infrastructure of the National Gymnasium “José Adolfo Pineda”, will allow the sports venue to host the competitions in the best conditions.

To date, 38 technical delegates have visited the country and the arrival of 3×3 basketball, rugby 7, indoor volleyball, soccer, beach soccer, handball and boxing is pending.
