Juan Lasala, International Technical Delegate, inspects the football venues

The football International Technical Delegate (ITD) and CONCACAF events delegate, Juan Lasala, recently visited the different sport venues that will host football matches and training sessions during the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.

Lasala, a Salvadoran delegate living in Guatemala, visited the facilities of the Estadio Nacional Las Delicias, where the official matches will be played during the games, as well as the training venues of the Salvadoran Football Federation (Fesfut), Fundación Educando a un Salvadoreño (FESA), Polideportivo 10 de Octubre, in San Marcos, and the Estadio Municipal Florencia, in Nuevo Cuscatlán.

The delegate and CONCACAF member was joined by members of infrastructure areas of COSSAN2023, who were able to share suggestions and answer questions. Lasala seemed please and confident that the venues he visited will be suitable for football, which will be played from June 26th to July 5th.

On his part, Marvin Sánchez, COSSAN2023 Sport Services Coordinator, commented that the ITD seemed “very pleased, the progress has been vast. I think that with this last month’s work, we have advanced at least 90 per cent for the organization of football for the games”.

Sánchez also mentioned the certification process of the artificial grass of the Estadio Nacional Las Delicias, which is the responsibility of the same company that had already authorized it.

“The most important thing is the certification of the pitch, but the delegate is leaving satisfied because the company that will approve it provided him with a timetable for its compliance. A Colombian company will be performing the diagnosis of the grass of Estadio las Delicias. We will have the certification of the pitch in about one month and a half.”, he expressed.

At the same time, Sánchez was clear in expressing how the organizing committee seeks to have the best conditions for the athletes that will be competing.

“We want to provide a good show with top quality sport venues for the athletes, not only in the competition venues, but also in the training facilities. The ITD is leaving satisfied with that we are going to give to the footballers”, Sánchez said.
