Mexico, Puerto Rico, and Barbados happy to be registered for San Salvador 2023

The delegations from Mexico, Puerto Rico and Barbados registered their delegations before the Organizing Committee of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023.

The Mexicans did it on Wednesday, while the Puerto Ricans and Barbadians did the procedure this day before the COSSAN2023 General Secretariat.

Óscar Gómez, technical director for the Mexican Olympic Committee, confirmed that his country’s delegation registered on Wednesday and that its 644 athletes will begin arriving on Monday. This makes it the largest delegation.

“I wish success to COSSAN and Centro Caribe Sports,” said Gomez, who commented that there will be a rivalry with the Cuban delegation for the lead in the medal standings in the San Salvador 2023 Games.

Daphne Guzman, Chief of Mission for Puerto Rico, said that more than 400 athletes are coming as a group, among them, Olympic and Pan American medalists.

“We are happy, we were anxious to be here, we know that El Salvador has made a great effort to make these games happen,” said the Puerto Rican.

Gail Craig-Archer, Chief of Mission from Barbados, informed that her delegation is 181 athletes for the San Salvador venue and the Santo Domingo sub-venue.

“I am happy to be here, our athletes start coming on Sunday, we want the games to start already,” said Craig-Acher.
