San Salvador 2023 Games will grant spots for the Pan American Games

A total of 13 sports on the program of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 will grant direct qualification to the Pan American Games Santiago 2023.

In addition to the glory of being champions and winning a medal, the athletes from the different countries will have the opportunity to seek qualification for the greatest sporting event on the American continent in San Salvador 2023.

The XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games will be held from June 23 to July 8 and will have the participation of more than 5,000 athletes.

A total of 38 sports will be played, 32 of them and 45 sports disciplines, in the Salvadoran capital, while six sports and nine sports disciplines will be played in the Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, sub-venue.

The sports that will be part of Santiago 2023 are: swimming, athletics, boxing, bowling, handball, baseball, mountain biking (MTB), tennis, shooting, archery, sailing, and triathlon (mixed relay), in addition to field hockey and equestrian sports that will be held in Santo Domingo.

According to the open waters technical manual, the first eight athletes, both male and female, to reach the finish line will obtain their ticket to Santiago 2023, while in water polo, the first three places in each branch of the tournament of the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 will qualify for the continental event to be held in the Chilean capital.

In athletics, athletes who obtain first place in the individual and relay events will automatically qualify for the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games. This does not apply to the race walking and half-marathon events.

Likewise, the MTB competition of the Central American and Caribbean Games 2023 will award one direct slot to the Santiago 2023 Pan American Games in the women’s category and another in the men’s category.

In the case of field hockey, the two countries that place first and second in the XXIV Central American and Caribbean Games 2023 will earn a place in the continental competition.

In boxing, only the finalists in each weight category of the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 will qualify for the continental championship.

According to the sailing technical manual, the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 will award two spots for women (Ilca 6, Sunfish), two spots for men (Ilca 7, Sunfish), and one spot in the mixed snipe boat (two athletes) for the qualification to Santiago 2023. Likewise, it may have variations or updates.

San Salvador 2023 will have 17 places available for shooting sports athletes, and, according to the respective technical manual, nine places will be awarded for women and eight for men.

In the women’s category, there will be two places in 10-meter air rifle, one place in 3-position 50-meter rifle, two places in 10-meter air pistol, one place in 25-meter pistol, one place in pit, and two places in skeet.

In the men’s category, athletes will be eligible for two places in the 10-meter air rifle, one place in the 3-position 50-meter rifle, two in the 10-meter air pistol, one ticket in the 25-meter rapid fire pistol, one place in the pit, and the same number in skeet.

For archery, the San Salvador 2023 Games will also be a qualifying event for Santiago 2023 and will award a place in both men’s and women’s recurve and compound archery.

In handball, the teams that achieve first and second place in both branches during the San Salvador 2023 Games will automatically qualify for the 2023 Pan American Games, while the third-place team in the tournaments will have the right to participate in the playoff tournament.

In triathlon, the first place in the mixed relays will be awarded a direct place in America’s greatest sporting event.

The tennis tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games will also be a qualifier for the Santiago 2023 Games, and according to the technical manual, places will be given to the first and second places in men’s and women’s singles.
