Satisfaction for the medical plan for San Salvador 2023

Representatives from the Organizing Committee of the Central American and Caribbean Games San Salvador 2023 (COSSAN2023) and members of the Medical Commission from Centro Caribe Sports started today the second review of the plan for the Games that will be held from June 23rd to July 8th.

“We are making a second review on the whole medical plan for the Games and the anti-doping plan, and we have seen a presentation of the inter-institutional plan from the medical point of view, which includes care and emergencies,” said Milton Pinedo, anti-doping Director and Secretary of the Medical Commission from Centro Caribe Sports.

Pinedo detailed that the aspects analyzed include environmental health care, food, vaccination, spraying, waste disposal and issues related to prevention and medical attention during the Games.

“If the approved plan is executed as written, it will leave a very important legacy for the Central American Games as well for the people from El Salvador and the Central American and Caribbean region”, commented Pinedo.

The Dominican explained that a new coordination visit will be made between February and June and a medical congress will be held on June 21st.

“It is a well elaborated plan with integration of many institutions, which will allow the Games to develop, from the medical point of view, with a smooth and excellence that if not stopped, we may not have any failure in the organization”, said Pinedo, who added that “we feel very satisfied with the medical plan that El Salvador has prepared for these games through the Ministry of Health, the Organizing Committee and INDES”.

The anti-doping Director recommended the Salvadoran institutions to remain focused on the work, because the Games are an important challenge to have the “machinery” at the best possible level.

“The reaction is quite positive, and obviously they (Medical Commission) are always interested that everything runs smoothly but I think that with an integrated work is being done, the health factor will not be something that interrupts this event,” said Rafael Morales, Coordinator of Medical Services from COSSAN.

Tomorrow will be developed the planning of the medical congress for the Games, and during the afternoon will be worked the anti-doping control plan, which is one of the fundamental parts of the event.

“I want to congratulate and thank all institutions from the Ministry of Health for doing a very good job and the truth is that as a country it will leave a legacy for future organizations of major events,” restated Morales
