This is how El Salvador will play baseball in the Central American and Caribbean Games

A few days away from the start of the XXIV edition of the Central American and Caribbean Games, San Salvador 2023, the baseball schedule has been defined with a round-robin between the eight participating countries, starting next Saturday, June 24, at the remodeled Parque de Pelota Saturnino Bengoa Urrutia.

Cuba, Nicaragua, Mexico, Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Curaçao, and the Dominican Republic, along with El Salvador, will compete for medals in the regional competition. The four best teams from this initial round will fight for the medals and qualify for the XIX Pan American Games Santiago 2023, to be held between October and November.

The National Team of El Salvador, which has been supported in its preparation by the Effort and Glory program of the National Sports Institute (INDES), will debut that same Saturday, June 24, at 8:00 p.m., against the ninth team of Curaçao as the home team. The national team will play all its matches at that time, being the final game of each day, due to its hosting condition.

On Sunday, June 25, they will play away against Mexico, while on Monday, June 26, they will face Nicaragua as locals. On Tuesday 27 they will be away against the Dominican Republic; on Wednesday 28 they will be home against Cuba; on Thursday 29 they will be away against Venezuela; and on Friday 30 they will face Puerto Rico, also as visitors.

The opening match of the tournament will be between Mexico and Cuba on Saturday, June 24, at 9:30 a.m. That day will be completed with the matches Puerto Rico vs. Venezuela (1:00 pm), Dominican Republic vs. Nicaragua (4:30 pm), and Curaçao vs. El Salvador (8:00 pm).

The top four teams will advance to the medal round on Saturday, July 1. The fourth and third-place teams will compete for the bronze medal at 1:00 pm, while the first and second-place teams will play for the gold medal at 4:30 pm.

The national team, which is coming from a successful preparation tour of Nicaragua, where they were undefeated in five games (four wins and a tie) against various professional and youth teams of the country, has completed a preparation process that has included several series of practice games with international teams, including several matches in Guatemala and Nicaragua, as well as participation in the Central American Baseball Tournament held in Managua.
